Chipembere Style Variations
These last two video were William’s first ever recordings with us. He introduces the song as ‘Marenje’ (and also plays it under that name on other recordings). Many mbira players will recognise the pattern as a variation of Chipembere, which corresponds more closely with mbira chord progression 1.
